10 thoughts on gender role and why I am egal-plimentarin

When my Dad was young, (he was the age I am now), he began his theological education. It was at Southeastern (in its more theological experimental days). There He gained His Mdiv. Later he moved back to Ga and finished his Doctorate at Luther Rice a school known for its very conservative ways... Anyway the point is churches on one side of the gap made him out to be one thing “fundamental” AND churches on the other made him out to be the other “Liberal” .. All because of pedigree not content nor character. That is how I feel when it comes to gender roles.

When it comes to gender role issues many would call me a conservative egalitarian, other would say I’m a liberal complementaian. What is a man to do? I am often discussed by much of what I hear. Given my current setting – I want to scream att he miss use of terms and labels that triangulate and marginalize good people. In response I want to give the 10 things I hate to hear on this issue..

1. The clam of egalitarianism as a slippery sloop into all out homosexuality.
2. Egalitarians portrayed as all being lesbians
3. More personally, the oppression and dehumanizing of woman that is sanctified in this C- view. Which is also why pornography is on the rise in this community? How easy is it to objectify and distance the female form from being a person? The position while I believe biblical is tricky and is so very easy for a man to pervert.
4. The confusing of Masculinity with American cultural idea of masculinity. I do not think Jesus would bow at the alter of ESPN or loosen his ethics just to win at a intramural football game,(in the name of being competitive). Further, the fruit of the spirit shows men that emotions rightly directed is Manly and the Old Testament show men of passion, and intention. (Men of compartmentalized, methodical control and rational dissidence which amounts to the 20th century idea that men are more rational and woman are the weaker “mentally” sex which is implied when many say they are more emotional)
5. The lack of understanding the biblical portrait of woman – Proverbs 31 is a woman that is industries strong, managerial, can think on her feet, and has a great skill set.
6. WHAT ever happened to servant leadership? The last first,
7. Egalitarian making complementarins out to all be backward hicks that don’t think.
8. NO one taking the time to write extensively on how complimentatiansim plays out in real life.
9. Egalistisan not thinking about the simple natural law issues (Ae.. biological factors that psychologically divide the sexes) and the implication of other simple keys that show a presence of roles.
10. Somebody tell me why gender roles are important in the life of the church? I want to watch Beth Moore so BAD!!! When it come to the family I am with ya C-view brothers.. but in the church a family with one father many brothers and sisters I do not see the issue of teaching to be that important? OK sole authority and lead pastor .. hmm I am a little hesitant. But come one what is the damage.
